1965 "Mr. Tamborine Man" by The Byrds is a cover of Bob Dylan's song that he wrote in 1964

1970 "Woodstock" by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's cover version Joni Mitchell's song (1970) that she wrote

1970 version of "Black Magic Woman" is a cover version of Fleetwood Mac's version of 1968

I could go on, but those are the top of my head favorites especially because most think of the cover as the original version.
