XMAS Songs - Your Fav' Christmas songs....

Posted 3 years ago #

I've evolved my Tumblr 'diary' into a daily link to a favourite tune - something i'd have on my i-pod (if I had one). FOr December, I've chosen to pick my favourite festive songs - abit like an advent calendar.

My Tumblr link - http://fabulousphotogifts.tumblr.com/

So take a look when you have a moment but rush back here and leave your own link of your festive fav.

Slade aside, this tune always evokes Christmas in my mind.... The Troika:

An updated "Joy to the World" by Third Day. I prefer the traditional, but love this version too. I wish I could have found a video that has the entire song, so I will just provide the link http://www.carols.org.uk/ba27-joy-to-the-world.htm) to the lyrics.

Purple13,

You are welcome!! Now for a different part of me because it isn't Christmas unless I hear this song too. Unfortunately, it is only the audio from 1979 TV Show "A Christmas Together". John Denver & The Muppets sing "We Wish You A Merry Christmas". Enjoy!! I love all the talking in the background.

Hi JBean - my what a festive lot we are - not a sign of humbug anywhere.

A friend suggested I ought to be finding less well known versions of my festive advent calendar songs but feel that would just be cheating people. Anyway to keep him quiet - here's an alternative version.....

JBean,

I love the "Baby, It's Cold Outside."

Jonathan,
I want to play, but I will use lesser know Christmas songs or non-traditional versions. I like your pick today.

Hi Purple,

I've never seen the Muppets Xmas Carol believe it or not! I'll put it on the Xmas viewing list, right after Doctor Zhivago and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

well folks it day 11 of my festive music advent calendar over on Tumblr (see above for a link) - Todays is another great Christmas song.

Tip - Watch the guy - he does a funny 'dad dancing' little jig all of his own - completely out of time with the music and doesn't sing for the first nearly 3 mins! Really funny and he looks like he's freezing to death when they switch to the Russian sequence - why Russia????? Any ways have a look and a laugh....

hi CC - Hard to believe that he was knocked off the Christmas Number 1 slot by a school choir with a truly awful song - still at least it bounced back afterwards.

Not quite crocodile rock but this rocket man's Christmas song still has you rocking along - day 21 people.

The Monkees sing an acappella rendition of an Old Spanish Christmas Carol, "Ríu, Chíu".

English Translation:

River, roaring river, guard our homes in safety,
God has kept the black wolf from our lamb, our lady.
God has kept the black wolf from our lamb, our lady.

Raging mad to bite her, there the wolf did steal,
But our God almighty defended her with zeal.
Pure he wished to keep her so she could never sin,
That first sin of man never touched the virgin sainted.

River, roaring river...

He who's now begotten is our mighty monarch,
Christ, our holy father, in human flesh embodied.
He has brought atonement by being born so humble,
Though he is immortal, as mortal was created.

River, roaring river...

Keeping with the theme here
"Christmas Time is Here" ~ music by Vince Guaraldi and lyrics by Lee Mendelson.
Sorry for the quality, but I had a heck of a time finding this. I don't like that it switchs into the other music.

Jonathan,

I agree with you regarding your comment above. Thanks for starting this. I don't know if others enjoyed it, but I did. Merry Christmas to you and your family!!

Thanks CC

I've really enjoyed picking my festive favs and 'sharing them'. You only have to hear the first couple of notes of most of them and you know the tune (and probably most of the words too).

re - snoopy - it must surely be the most repeated xmas tv show - the peanuts christmas.

If you don't stop by again, then merry christmas to you and your family CC.

Well it's Christmas Eve and my little festive musical advent calendar has come to a close - we've opened the last 'bonus double door' and what a treat lay behind it.

The year was 1973 and we were all crazee for them - it was/is the definitive Christmas number 1 and long may it continue to be so.

Thanks for visiting our Tumblr page and joining in with the fun here.

We'll be back in the New Year resuming our ipod choice music track a day as well as some surprise guest weeks and themes - all to come.

Jonathan.

changes do happen. I know they are the trace of time , adidas f50 adizero, irresistible and inevitable. the moment I saw my father I should not recognize him.I know he is getting old ,but returning home after more than 4moths,the symptoms of old should have grown beyond my imagination. I felt guilt and regret. I know I am the killer who take away his strength and youth.apparently he was pleased that I arrived so early and brought presents for them. when I was young I always thought he was some kind of tyrant , stern and severe.Nike Mercurial Vapor, I thought he was not approachable and touching.while with years passing by, in the process of my growing up and his getting old , these impression fades and instead it is replaced by words as gentle caring and loving . he played cheese and badminton with me, he would sing with me , he cooked for me , he chat with me , he is tolerant of me.my dear father and all my families , I say sorry for my past fault , I know sometimes I just easily surrender myself to the various temptation, and lose myself and my way. but believe me , I just easily surrender myself to the various temptation, and lose myself and my way. football boots, but believe me ,my experience is added over time and I can preserve my values and trace my path to maturity
