Go! Watch the video (just not on YouTube)

Posted on May 4th, 2010 by Lib

Lib in Manchester calling! M.I.A’s video for her new single, Born Free, has been banned by YouYube, deemed as being too violent.  News story below.

The full length video can be seen on Vimeo below.

So, having watched the video and the newsclip, have YouTube got it right? Is it too violent? Or is their moral stance a bit laughable considering their website is nicknamed ‘YouPorn’?

And is there a place in today’s society for such graphic music video’s?

So many questions! Please answer below but only, quite rightly, if you’re not ginger.

GO! Post youtube clips in comments, a stocking filler at flowers!

Posted on December 23rd, 2008 by Jim

HO! HO! GO! Thanks to tech guy Deep in India for posting instructions at forums on how to post youtube screens as comments here in the posts. Very few have time to click links so now you can all click n play by adding clips in comments.

All you need to do to add a youtube clip in comments at this blog at GSTF is to:

1) Copy the url of the youtube link – its will start with http://www

2) Just insert a letter v (v for video) after the http to make httpv:// and you’re done.

Over at forums it’s even easier – just copy n paste the url in the thread and you’re done – no V needed!

So to get the ball rolling I’m inviting all to post a light hearted comedy clip here at flowers in comments and I’ll start right here, right now. A curb your enthusiasm clip where Larry pops around to see his Dad not realising that his Mother has died. Making light of the dark? Gulp:

All comedy youtube clips welcome here in comments  – just at the v after http!

Go Smell the Cranberry Sauce!

Posted on November 28th, 2008 by A/C

Here in Australia we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving. Most of us know it has something to do with Pilgrims, American Indians and for some reason turkeys, but thats about it.

In funkygirl’s Post Go! Smell the thanksgiving Turkey, flowers she asks us what are you greatful for this holiday season?

At this time of year, we all begin to reflect on the events of the year soon closing, how our lives have changed for better or worse, our plans for the coming year, and the expectations we place on ourselves and those around us.

I am grateful and thankful for every part of my life, family, friends, life etc.

Come Thursday after seeing many Thanksgiving celebrations, I found I was most thankful for one thing more than any thing else.

Go Smell the Extreme!

Posted on November 17th, 2008 by A/C

Some can,

Some cant,

Others wouldn’t know how.

It is strange how for some of us there is an inherent fear of getting hurt, where commonsense kicks in and says; “Watch out that might be dangerous!”

Yet for others that just doesn’t enter their heads at all.

Hubby was like the latter until he fell of a cliff.

Now he still does (what I consider) dumb things, but he does think about it while he is doing them, then realised afterwards he probably shouldn’t have done that but its too late then.

I on the other hand, I tend ere on the side of caution commonsense (or perhaps I am just a scaredy cat) saying “Nope! not doing that” Top of my not to do list Bunjee Jumping

What is the most outrage thing you have ever done?

Have you let hair down and really gone to town in dare devil way?

Can you let yourself loose control and give yourself over to the moment?

Here’s something you might enjoy..

Don’t try this at home kids, but then again why not?

Go Smell The Hurricanes!

Posted on September 15th, 2008 by taylorblue

It seems like everyone is getting slammed by hurricanes these days. Is this a sign of Global Warming? I know I live in the Prairies where it is usually so dry and this summer we got so much rain!

Anyways, I was watching the footage of Hurricane Ike the other night as it was hitting Texas. And I said to my husband…”This isn’t so nice to the weather men. What happens if they get blown over?” And what happened? A weather man did….

I used to live in Ontario when I was younger and we would get hit by the tail end of the hurricanes so I know what that looks like. I can only imagine what that would be like. I have been through a couple of tornadoes but never something this serious. (One of my favorite movies…Twister!!!)

Please share your caught in serious weather stories…

Go! Smell The Dumb/Smart Criminal

Living in a big city has been really hard on us all lately. There has been alot of gang shootings and home invasions. This story was on the news the other day and happened in the city I live in. (And yes, that is 8C at the top of the screen! It was so cold that day!!) I can’t get over how smart the criminal was. He was being chased by the K9 dog and after smashing his head against the dumpster, jumps in. I think that there was a lot of quick thinking on his part! Too bad though, he shouldn’t have made a hostage situation in that home in the first place, he wouldn’t have been in that situation to begin with.

What do you think? Was he dumb or smart?

Go! Smell The Illusionist!

I love to watch TV when I get a chance. It doesn’t happen very often though. I end up recording the shows I like and watching them later. That way I can fast forward through commercials. One of my all time favorite shows is Mindfreak. It stars the illusionist Criss Angel. I was disappointed at the beginning of his new season because his ‘demonstrations’ weren’t really mindfreaky like they usually are. (He is in the middle of working on his own Cirque du Soleil show, so I’m thinking he’s thinking more about that then his show.)

I have to say though that this demonstration he did in this video freaked my mind. (Viewer discretion might be advised…)  I think I almost passed out watching it. I haven’t felt that way before! There are skeptics that say that the guy that worked with Criss was an actor and an amputee…blah blah blah. But, I think the way to watch it is to relax and believe.

What should you believe but just can’t?

GO! Forget everything!

Posted on June 20th, 2008 by Jim

Does anyone else find they no longer need to remember the likes of phone numbers and birthdays or have lost the ability even if they tried?

Maybe we are the google generation that thrives on high speed information without the need to recall it. Are we fast losing the capacity to think deeply, camly and seriously as we succumb to internet attention-deficit disorder?

Maybe this is the techno induced first steps of dementia? Here’s some tips on how to give your brain a tune up to help us on the way whatever our excuse for remembering very little as it’s all at the touch of a button:
