Go! Get Juicy!

Posted on March 5th, 2009 by angelastokes

Greeeetings flower,

This weekend (Sat, March 7th) sees the official kick-off of the Global Juice Feast 2009. Yeeeeeee-HAH… :)
Yes, people all over the world will be joining in for up to 92 days of feasting on fresh, raw, nutrient-packed juice. Juice FEASTing is similar to juice fasting, except that with a feast, as the name suggests, one imbibes a large amount of fresh juice daily – preferably at least 4 quarts/litres a day. This gives the body plenty of nutrition and calories whilst at the same time getting a GREAT break from digestion, so the body can focus on ‘spring-cleaning’ instead…
I completed a 92-day Juice Feast back in Feb 2007 and it was one of the most transformative times of my life. Here below is the video from the day I broke the Feast:

You can connect to a whole community of Juice Feasters at I also wrote a book all about Juice Feasting, which you can see HERE.
What about you, flower, have you ever juice fasted, or feasted? Are you up for some extra juiciness now…? ;)

All love,
Angela. xxx

Go! Swap your Seeds ;)

Hello flowers :)
Any of you who follow my regular blog will know that my partner Matt and I are moving to Ecuador, to settle in a lovely community and grow our own food. I am immeasurably excited about this and have started to collect seeds, read up extensively on organic gardening and permaculture and also recently had the delight of visiting the UK’s biggest seed swapping event of the year – Seedy Sunday, in Hove.

Here is my video blog from the event:

I see growing our own food as an INTEGRAL part of creating sustainable lifestyles. It will be AMAZING to get things going with our garden…what about y’all flowers? Do you grow any of your own food?
All love,

Hello lovelies,
Well, the first green shoots of spring are popping up here in the garden in England…hurray :) It’s still rather wintery-feeling though, so today I thought I’d share a yummmmmmy, smooth, rich, filling raw food recipe, to help ease through the hibernation time…
Here is a video of my partner Matt demo-ing the gorgeous ‘Almond Dream Bar’ – one of the simplest and most delicious raw treats I’ve had…

Mmmmmm, dreamy… You can see the ingredients on my blog HERE. ENJOY :)
Do you have any favourite raw food dessert recipes…?

Go! Drink Your Greeeeeeens

Posted on January 18th, 2009 by angelastokes

Greetings lovelies…
I’m back in the super-cold UK winter now…time for some extra-potent nutrition, in the form of greeeen vegetable juice. Here’s a recent video of me from TheRawFoodWorld TV show, making green veggie juice for my parents – will they like it? Find out by watching below ;)

Few of us get anywhere near an optimal amount of fresh green produce going into our bodies daily. Drinking your veggies – in green juice or green smoothies (blend of fruits and leafy greens) – is an ideal way to get your greens in…
Do you like green juice…? Do you have a juicer tucked into a cupboard somewhere that might enjoy an airing? ;)
All love,

Posted on January 10th, 2009 by angelastokes

..and a belated Happy New Year to you all, lovelies…
Things have been busy, blossoming beautifully in the raw corner of the garden, as we’ve been nurturing our new free online ‘TV show’ – The Raw Food World. We’ve been getting FABULOUS feedback so far… Thank you all for the comments and suggestions. We’re finding it’s great fun to share ourselves more through the medium of video. Personally, I’m excited about the new theme music for the intro and outro… ;)

I’m adding a link here to one of the most recent shows filmed in Mexico, where I review Sproutein – one of our favourite new foods – ENJOY :)

To your health and happiness,
All love

Go! Smell the Raw Yuletide…

Posted on December 27th, 2008 by angelastokes

OooOoooo lala…I hope you’re all enjoying a MARVELLOUS Holiday/end-of-year Celebration time…

Myself and Mr. Monarch are still in Mexico, enjoying the winter sun. I am fasting on coconut water and juices at the moment for a few days, as it feels SO good to me. I passed Winter Solstice on coconut water and felt inspired now to just keep going…(loving the cocos)…onwards into the ever-expanding light with coconuts in hand…

We’re also excited to announce this week that we’ve started our own raw TV show: TheRawFoodWorld.TV :)
We’ve been posting videos daily so far, including interviews with Matt’s family (starting with his mum, who has seen great changes in her health since eating more raw foods and juicing), footage of our current residence in Mexico (complete with rescue dogs we’re rehabilitating on raw) and insights into a raw Christmas…You can see our vids at TheRawFoodWorld.TV, or click the picture below to watch a recent episode. If you have any suggestions for future episodes, please feel free to post them here on GSTF – we’d love to hear your ideas ;)

We hope you’re all feeling perky and bright at Yuletide and we send you all best wishes and blessings for a marvellous, healthy new year…

All love,
Angela (and Mr. Monarch) in Mexico. xxx

Go! Sip the cocos…

Greetings dear garden-dwellers,
I hope all is flowing well in YOUR part of the picture…
This week I thought I’d share a little about our current whereabouts. My partner Matt and I travel all over the world sharing the message of raw food and right now we are in Baja, Mexico, soaking up the winter sun and enjoying plenty of fresh coconuts – YUMMMMMM :)

So that you can get a direct insight into life here, I’ve embedded a little video below that our friend Kevin Gianni filmed yesterday, during our trip to the coconut stand:

LOVE coconuts…I hope you make the most of them too whenever you’re in a coconutty area – ENJOY :)

Go! Play with raw foods…

Posted on December 11th, 2008 by angelastokes

Hello again flowers :)
I hope everyone is feeling perky and well in the garden… After introducing myself last week, I thought perhaps this week I’d give a little more of an intro to the idea of eating raw, for those who might be less familiar with this lifestyle. Let’s start with the common question: What does a raw foodist actually eat?

The majority of raw foodists in the current movement seem to be raw vegans. There are some, however who eat raw dairy, meat and so on. There are many different ways to eat raw; the main point is removing toxic, addictive, unnatural processed and/or cooked ‘foods’ from our intake. There is no ‘requirement’ or ‘necessity’ to eat 100% raw to be healthy – even eating just 50% of your intake as fresh raw food can help tip the balance in your favour…

Raw vegans tend to consume the following kind of foods:

The ‘staples’: fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, dried fruits, sprouts, herbs, spices, natural salt, seaweeds, oils, flowers, fermented foods.

The ‘extras’: raw carob powder, sweeteners like yacon, mesquite or lucuma, green powders and nutritionally dense ‘superfoods’ such as goji berries, maca and cacao….

Go! Enjoy a Few of My Favourite Raw Things…

Posted on December 4th, 2008 by angelastokes

Hello Flowers :)

As this is my first post here, I thought it would be polite to introduce myself, so here’s a quick summary of where I’m coming here from:

*born in England in ’78, raised on a mixture of corned beef, packaged cereals, space-hopper-ing, ’80s kids’ TV shows and fluorescent clothing…

*thyroid went under-active at the age of 11, started to gain weight, got into emotional eating patterns…and…ended up gaining weight constantly for a decade, until by age of 21, I was 21 stone/133kg/297lbs.

*introduced to raw food lifestyle in May 2002, aged 23, while living in Iceland. Went raw, released over 11 stone/70kg/160lbs in 2 years, reversing morbid obesity.

*Set up my website – – in 2004 – to share my weight loss story and help others lose weight naturally. Went on to produce books on eating raw, give talks, hold retreats, write a blog and most joyously and recently, make up SONGS about raw food ;)

Here is a raw food version of ‘A Few of My Favourite Things’ from the Sound of Music… I hope you enjoy…

Ok, I hope that gives a reasonable idea of my background for now – I’ll share more ideas around raw food in the future – it’s great to be part of the garden!

All love,
Angela. xxx
