Go! Find An Alternative

Checking in here in Dubai following on from Angela’s great juicy post on March 5th, I came across some very easy and delicious sounding juices I thought I would share here. They are my kind of recipe – visual and make up the quantities as you go along.

So this got me thinking: Whether you believe that these remedies really work or not, they are healthy alternatives to your everyday diet. I am trying to cut out cheese, bread, biscuits and all those other delicious high carb, high sugar foods from my diet.

What healthy alternatives are there? Either in your diet or as a metaphor for your life, that you would like to introduce into your daily routine?

Hi from the UK flower people.

According to the commercial break during the TV I just watched, I’m obviously suffering from fungus under my toenails, a horrid bloated feeling and I’m technologically inferior because I’m not watching in sky hd.

I felt so ill I had to have a quick ‘lie down’ before they start suggesting life insurance to cover those pesky funeral expenses – at least I’ll have a nice pen to write my will with.  It’s not all doom n gloom as I discovered these funny TV car commercials on youtube to share in the garden:

Hi from Dubai where I’m sending get well soon vibes to California based flowers regular Clinically Clueless.

She has been hospitalised since last Wednesday with bilateral pneumonia. Her condition was serious but
she is doing much better and responding to treatment. She still has occasional fever spikes and is in a lot of pain and here’s to a speedy recovery CC. Here’s one of her fave flower smelling songs:

Hi from the US of A flower folk.

A new study shows that drinking 3 to 5 cups of coffee a day, especially in midlife, can keep us mentally sharp. The research, performed at the University of Kuopio, Finland, shows a whopping 65% reduction in the chances that we will develop Alzheimer’s disease or dementia in later life,  by simply adding coffee to our daily diet.

Go! Smell the Raw Yuletide…

OooOoooo lala…I hope you’re all enjoying a MARVELLOUS Holiday/end-of-year Celebration time…

Myself and Mr. Monarch are still in Mexico, enjoying the winter sun. I am fasting on coconut water and juices at the moment for a few days, as it feels SO good to me. I passed Winter Solstice on coconut water and felt inspired now to just keep going…(loving the cocos)…onwards into the ever-expanding light with coconuts in hand…

We’re also excited to announce this week that we’ve started our own raw TV show: TheRawFoodWorld.TV :)
We’ve been posting videos daily so far, including interviews with Matt’s family (starting with his mum, who has seen great changes in her health since eating more raw foods and juicing), footage of our current residence in Mexico (complete with rescue dogs we’re rehabilitating on raw) and insights into a raw Christmas…You can see our vids at TheRawFoodWorld.TV, or click the picture below to watch a recent episode. Go! Play with raw foods…

Hello again flowers :)
I hope everyone is feeling perky and well in the garden… After introducing myself last week, I thought perhaps this week I’d give a little more of an intro to the idea of eating raw, for those who might be less familiar with this lifestyle. Let’s start with the common question: What does a raw foodist actually eat?

The majority of raw foodists in the current movement seem to be raw vegans. There are some, however who eat raw dairy, meat and so on. There are many different ways to eat raw; the main point is removing toxic, addictive, unnatural processed and/or cooked ‘foods’ from our intake. There is no ‘requirement’ or ‘necessity’ to eat 100% raw to be healthy – even eating just 50% of your intake as fresh raw food can help tip the balance in your favour…

Raw vegans tend to consume the following kind of foods:

The ‘staples’: fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, dried fruits, sprouts, herbs, spices, natural salt, seaweeds, oils, flowers, fermented foods.

The ‘extras’: raw carob powder, sweeteners like yacon, mesquite or lucuma, green powders and nutritionally dense ‘superfoods’ such as goji berries, maca and cacao….

GO! Smell my skin test results!

Hi from Dubai! A few weeks aGO! I shared how being blessed lots of moles meant one or two would be removed from time to time. After a dodgy looking one was removed from my back by knife and another burnt off my face I shared how I decided against using Fucidin antibiotic cream opting for an alternative of Manuka honey to help my skin heal.

Well the wounds have healed nicely showing no signs of infection and sadly no photo evidence as I’ve lost the images that were taken on my new blackberry! So on with the results that came back yesterday after my mole flew over to France to GO! under the microscope to check if it was anything serious.

Here’s what I’ve been told:

‘The specimen showed lentiginous proliferative or melanocytes in the basal layer admixed with some coalascent nests.  These melanocytes were somewhat atypical with enlarged hyerchromartic nuclei. The papillary dermis was fibrotic and showed a lymphocytic inflammatory infilatrate”

EH? Say what? Try saying that after a beer.

I’m terrified to google it as I’ve no idea what it means other than I have to have my skin checked every 4 months. Is there a Doctor in the house or should I just google it? Doc told me it was ‘ nothing serious’ and it’s best to catch them early but that’s all I know.

Any thoughts or wisdom on my results people? GULP. To google it or not, that is the question! Any adivce appreciated so I can make sense of all this,
