Agreed Jace I hadn’t looked at is from that perspective, although when I returned from the UK to Abu Dhabi the thermographic image made me feel like I was on the film Predator!

So I am curious. Is this screening process effective? We are checking for a disease that takes 2 to 7 days to manifest (mean=4 days), yet can shed virus after the second day. This means that someone can get sick, travel through two or three airports and coming into close contact with dozens of people, and still get through the screening station undetected; and this is with oral, tympanic, or temporal thermometry. Those countries using thermographic scanners are using technology ill suited at best and frequently wrong.

The expenses for these efforts would be better suited in treating the ill or funding the distribution of the eventual vaccine.

‘it’ is looking for people with elevated temperature/fever. If you show sings of elevated temperature then you are stopped for further investigatioon.
I passed through a number of times showing outward signs of serious fever – sweating, ill looking, washed out, etc but as it was only a severe hangover from too much ale the night before I was not flagged by the machine. So there is nothing to worry about. The machine is fine.

I merely commented that it was freezing in the princesses chamber – hoot, whistle, beep – But it’s supposed to be freezing! How on earth you expect her to catch the flu now is beyond my comprehension….
