Arvind here, resting for the next 24 hours in preparation for my BIG day on Sunday.
I shall then be achieving one of my lifelong ambitions to take part in the London Marathon. Despite a knee injury I am taking part by walking the whole 26.2 miles.
As with most things we do in life, we can learn positive lessons from any endeavour and my quest to take part in the London Marathon is no different. I have just shared my Ten Life Lessons from running the London Marathon.
The key lesson is really to persist and to never give up on your quest.
So this Sunday whilst I will be walking around London for 8 hours, what quest will you be pursuing?
What quest have you given up and what will you never give up pursuing?!
And do share any of your own tales about running marathons

Hi Arvind .. have a fun time & I’m sure you’ll be successful .. enjoy the whole experience & well done for participating.
I haven’t ever done anything like it .. it must be such an experience…. I feel like I’m on one with my mother as we travel her last journey .. it’s uplifting.
All the best – Hilary Melton-Butcher
Positive Letters
Thanks Hilary – most people who have run the London Marathon say it was one of the best days of their life!

I will be wearing a RED wig some of the time – look out for my running number – 49950
Good luck Arvind,
It’s a marathon, not a sprint and good for you for sticking at it!
Thanks Jim – I will be there at the finish by the end of the day!
Good luck Arvind!!!
Thanks CC!
I am just getting ready and having a power breakfast. It is a beautifully sunny morning in London – and just over 2 hours to go before we start.
Can’t wait!
ENJOY Arvind….
The very best of luck!
good luck with your sponsored walk arvind.
I am not a big fan of the london marathon. this year i tried to enter the disabled section- i had an electric spaz chariot sorted and was going to go round with a supply of stella, 40 embassy number one and 2 pizzas with a sound system to keep me company on the mindnumbing 3 hour journey round. however as i can walk i was told i would not be allowed.
so unfair.
my other plan was to walk the first two miles with a big bucket collecting for a worthy cause- then quitting by the gypsy moth pub in greenwich and rehydrating with staropramen.
however it was not to be.
hope it went well
Thanks Uncle Cyril – it was an amazing day!
As I was walking, it took me just under 7.5 hours to finish. I shall be posting a separate post shortly about my day.
Any photos Arvind?
Jim – photos soon on Facebook!
Unless there is a clever way of uploading them on here?!
I look forward to it arvind
however i THINK to liven it up a bit they should shoot the last 10 every half mile. it would make it a lot more interesting.
also a bus of shame for the losers who drop out of it- they could then be put into stocks on the mall and pelted with fruit.
or perhaps even they should have a three hour cut off- three hours in the dogs get released . i guarantee times would improve.
isn’t walking cheating a bit though? seriously. i reckon you could have run it mate. did the wheelchairs do your head in? i’d have taken roller blades and hitched a ride on a mong-cart.
You have a great blog here and it is Nice to read some well written posts that have some relevancy…keep up the good work
