I just found out that dogs who chase their tails are considered to be exhibiting obsessive compulsive behavior, but that’s not all! They may also be suffering from high cholesterol! Wait there’s more!
This new evidence from a research study is part of a growing body of evidence that indicates people suffering from obsessive compulsive behaviours may also be suffering from high cholesterol…and that high cholesterol could be exacerbating OCD behaviours in people.
Drop your French Fries people!
I’m not going to say it…okay, maybe I will. This is just another example of you are what you eat, but I had no idea that fast food was obsessive compulsive. Perhaps we should have had a clue from all of those mind numbing commercial jingles?
While I probably won’t be giving up all arterial clogging foods, this new bit of research is making me crave a salad instead of a big juicy cheeseburger tonight.

Is it also linked to humans with anxiety disorders and high cholesterol. Also, does this mean that we’re feeding too much table scraps to our dogs when they start chasing their tail? I’d take the salad too…don’t want to run in circles all night…dizzy, dizzy, dizzy!!!
Burgers are bad for you.
End of really, surely.
I’d quite like to know though just how different a home made burger and a big mac really are in terms of calories and why.
Anyone know?
Depends on how you make the one at home. But, McD’s Big Mac uses much oil, has the sauce, cheese, two patties and three pieces of bread.
Anyone fancy a Kebab?
I have naturally high Cholesteriol. My body produces more than the norm, but I eat salads, and very little fatty foods, if OCD is help by it then I am in trouble.. lol.. but it could explain an awful lot..
Oh yes Junior chases his tail.. but thats because it fun…lol…
Hey come on, I ALWAYS order a diet coke with my big mac, got to keep it real…
The influence of dietary cholesterol on blood cholesterol is relatively small because the liver synthesises cholesterol and increased dietary intake is offset by decreased endogenous production. Only extreme levels of intake e.g. eggs, shellfish or liver are likely to have a significant elevating effect. Only people with Familial Hypercholesterolaemia will require dietary cholesterol restriction to <300mg/day. Hope this helps….?
Welcome back ethical eater….
Not commenting on this would have been plain ’shellfish’….
I didn’t realise how chol’d up prawn / shrimp was, for example…
Reduced intake of dietary saturated fat will also have a reducing affect on total and low density lipoproteins (the bad cholesterol) so also good to keep a check on you S. F consumption as it has been found to reduce risk of coronary heart disease (DoH, 94).
Ok cool….
No more tepid lard for me then!
This made me really smile. Then, laugh because a brand new stick of butter was on the butter dish and with the tremor side effects, I promptly dropped the whole stick onto our not so impecable floor. Had to throw it away, but had another one. I needed it for my English Muffin…I miss the ones that I had in England over 20 years ago.
