Go Find your ‘Happy Place’

Posted on March 4th, 2009 by A/C

With the world seemly falling to pieces, bad news everywhere we turn, even BBC 1 has taken a more pessimistic tone of late.  The Economic Downturn, the stock market bubble bursting, wars, terrorist attacks, bombings, crime, mass sackings, business closing, Billion dollar bailouts for big business.

What we need is somewhere we feel in control, a place we can go and be happy and forget the outside world for a while.

A place that is our own, our own little corner where nothing can take over, private, safe, comforting and most of all STRESS FREE.
Whether it is a place found in the depths of meditation, a workout at the gym, sitting in the garden, reading a good book,  it really doesn’t matter, just a place we can recharge our batteries, remove the stresses which are becoming everyday and a place we can be ourselves.

Sometimes we just to see things slightly differently in order to find a way through the maze of life.

How do you de-stress?

Do you have a Happy place?

  2. Sarah says:

My happy place is my home.. I have books, music and food to accompany me..

  3. Shane says:

I so wish I had a “happy place”. I lost it 12 years ago with the birth of my first daughter. My “happy place” has been replaced by my “worry place”. Being a parent is a tough job. I will think about finding a happy place though…organic cocktail anyone?

find a spot thats just for you…
thats your happy place somewhere that makes you smile when you think of it.
I have so many kids, go find your happy place you need it ‘your a parent’

    • uncle cyril says:

why not give your daughter up if she is making you unhappy? that way you get your life back and she gets a family who will be grateful to have her. so you all win.

      • A/C says:

Back in form Cyril I see..
Its a pitty your sense of humour did not come to the party.. Perhaps next time your should invite it…;)

  4. Purple13 says:

I don’t have time to worry about finding a happy place which is probably a good thing as i’d only worry about not being able to find one – if i had the time of course.

  5. mike says:

My happy place is under a rock at the bottom of the sea

  6. Jim says:

Accepting what is a being still is my gig at the moment….

DJ Shadow sums it up nicely – Group hugs all round:

  7. For the most part my life is pretty stress free….Busy as hell, but stress free. As much that seems to be going on in the world at the moment, none of it has really had an effect on my well-being, but I do enjoy sitting in my backyard soaking up the sun and breathing in the air, although that will have to wait a bit till the foot of snow that fell this past Monday melts.

    • A/C says:

ah the snow, still waiting here little dusting overnight but nothing major.. hmm…
its nice just to sit and breath isnt it…
      time out

  8. Emma says:

Anywhere with snow is my happy place, but failing that (as it is difficult to always find it here unless you go to Ski Dubai!), my happy place is my bed with clean, crisp, while linen and ABBA playing in the background.

  9. Kathleen says:

I turn off the TV, and my tune into anything positive – like my cat, Oliver, whom I love to tote around and antagonize.

We are in such a difficult time .. I take space time for myself .. I think, but nothing serious – perhaps mull through is a better word .. & the other thing I do when I need to readjust .. I mentally turn on my heel and throw off that mentality & take a positive outlook .. and smile and be kind to others! – thanks Hilary

I go to the coffee shop, have my soya latte, and spend an hour or so writing whatever’s on my mind. This is my weekly ritual. It may not be the healthiest happy place, but it is a cheap and easy way to recharge from the stress of the week.

    • A/C says:

doesnt have to healthy, so long as you are happy it de-stresses you and makes you feel recharged…

      • Jim says:

Coffee of any type sends me off the radar – trying to cut it out altogether at the moment….

Green tea doesn’t quite have the same effect!
