Go Smell the Hypo-Allergenic Presidental Pup

Posted on November 13th, 2008 by Funkygirl012003

HI all from Ohio!

Since Barack Obama was elected president just last week, everyone has been kind of excited to see what kind of dog he gets for his two daughters.  In his acceptance speech he promised his kids a new puppy when they moved into the White House.  Now, we’re all talking about what kind puppy it’s going to be.  Not the most lively or pertinant topic of conversation I know, but it does pass the time.  Plus, puppies are cute!

One of the problems that the Obamas are having in the selection of their new pet is that one of the kids, Malia, is allergic. They need a hypo-allergenic pooch.

I was a little surprised to learn that there are hypo-allergenic dogs out there, like the poodle. (Which I’d already known of, but didn’t realize was good for people with allergies!)  With these new fangled designer pets, the days when a family can’t own a pet because of allergies are long gone!  Below is just a funny picture of Obama and McCain when they were campaigning!

    Hey Funky…

A Labradoodle is the only Dog for them……

Its a Poodle crossed with a Poodle… great for those allergic to dog hair…… active, very cute, and a great addition to the family… the kids would live it….

I was gonna say exactly the same thing! Go the Labradoodle… and with the Labrador sense of honour and loyalty… can’t go wrong! :)

      • A/C says:

        Beat you Svasti.. lol..

        they are just so Cute…..

with that curly long coat.. that is like wool.. they are just brillant…

      • They would certainly convey they right sense of loyalty and elegance that a presidental pet should have. :0

          A labradoodle would…
but why are so many placing such importance on what sort of dog…

I hope they get one from the pound… a Heinz 57 variety whom they save from the gallows….

and love just as much as a pedigree…

          That would be cool

  2. We have allergic kids too and after trying half a dozen breeds, settled on a Maltese – they have hair like humans, not fur. His name is Gabriel – he is fully grown at 8 lbs and cute as the proverbial button…

Can’t seem to add a picture! How frustrating! Go to this link instead:

A big drooling great dane could be the answer?

Trouble with pets is you can’t just up and go away when you feel like it – not that they’ll have that problem I don’t suppose…..

Aaah, I was going to say Labra-doodle too!

I hope the Whitehouse gets a deep clean after the last resident, didn’t Dubbya have a Scottie dog?
