Go! Find Some Human Rights (and get lost in the linkage)

Posted on May 15th, 2008 by Blue Collar Goddess

gstf_humanrightsbadge3  Here’s an exact copy of the post I just put up at my GSTF Portal on Xanga for The Blue Collar Goddess —–>
”Bloggers Unite is an initiative designed to harness the power of the blogosphere to make the world a better place. By challenging bloggers to blog about a particular social cause on a single day, a single voice can be joined with thousands of others to help make a real positive difference; from raising awareness for cancer, to an effort to better education systems or support 3rd world countries.”

Let’s spend some time tomorrow with this cause and spread the word!

Find badges for your website HERE.  Or, you can make one yourself! [like yours truly did by snagging OUR flower and putting it on one of the badges that I found most appealing!]

If you choose to join up with the Bloggers, leave me a comment so people elsewhere can find you, and link up with you.

Feel free to join the Go! Smell The Flowers blogring here at Xanga for more updates on worthwhile endeavors across the net and especially with us. <——- End o’ the blah-g at my place.

… and now, it’s here at OUR place!

Think y’all are up for what we tend to do best anyway?

    Hey Goddess

I posted on Aussie a few days ago also announcing and have today completed my post on Burma…
It is great to see so many Bloggers taking this Opportunity to band together….
    Well done

  4. Provided that the requisite homework and research is done on whatever subject is chosen then no worries go for it, more power to you.

However it could quickly become a vehicle that allows urban myth to become ‘fact’ or strong opinion.
One such urban myth was put on this site the other day,
The one about your car key fob working down a mobile phone – it doesn’t. Probably started by a person doing the test at home and being in range of his car anyeay. We make these devices and I had someone test it with a number of different models of key fob and mobile phone.

Clearly that is a harmless enough example but there are other cases where impressionable and gullible people will quickly pick an opinionated viewpoint and before you know it this view will become ‘solid fact’ and hundreds of thousands of people will be off up the garden path.

    Do your homework first people.

GIC – we couldn’t test the phone and car thing as we got the email in Thailand with phone but car in Dubai!

Have you tried the other numbers though?

      • Gareth in China says:

No, but the point I made is pertaining to ‘facts’ that get passed around. This was harmless but others can be misleading and damaging. For instance you’d be surprised what I can tell people about China and they believe it without question and would, if I didn’t tell them I was joking, quickly pass it around and it soon becomes ‘fact’. The same for many other things.
People are ready to believe all sorts of boll0c4s and blogs and forums are a ready made vehicle for it, unless some self control and research is carried out this could be very damaging.
