Hi all,
I’ve been fixated on general health lately. Something of a hypochondriac, I guess. I suppose some of it has come from the fact that my grandma recently had cataracts removed.
She’d been putting it off for years, because she was afraid of the surgery and so her eyesight kept getting worse and worse! Finally she had it done and then we all worried over it for a week because she said her eyesight was still really blurry. I thought, oh great, the doctor screwed up royal, and that’s probably when my own worrying about health this week started. It’s amazing how you can put something off for years because you think you can get it fixed later and then when you try the problem doesn’t correct itself.
Lucky for grandma the problem cleared up on it’s own. The doctor said that blurriness can happen after surgery. I didn’t quite catch why though. Now she’s driving by herself again and sees nearly 20/20!

G’Day funky
Yep hands up Guilty as charged…
my Gran had a thyroid problem which attacked her right eye… it actually pulled the eyelids back behind her eye.. got worse and worse until she had to have it fixed… by the time she went in to get it fixed she had to have surgery to reduce the pressure behind her eye.. lazers are wonderful then she had to have to her eyelids stitched down all very messy… still dont know what her thyroid had to do with it… but after that aways made sure she sorted it right away…
As far as I go I just dont want to know …. if I am dieing then dont tell me … if it can be fix then fix it… if not then dont tell me…. I do what I can…. my bad habit is smoking shut up dont hassle me…. and believe it or not I very rarely drink…. I walk and exercise, and do all the things recommended healthy diet, no preservative etc… The smoking will stop as I know it must…. it is just one habit I cant seem to stop…
my health is something I do try and look after but healthy body, mind and soul all things in balance I guess.. although the last two are hardest of all….
Egh! Sounds like quite the unpleasant situation for your granny. Glad to hear the docs were able to fix her eyes though

Hey Funky…
Thanks for sharing this one and gald Gran is driving again without the squint!
Jim here and I have these floating spots that I see against white or light coloured backgrounds – they follow my sight everywhere…just wondering is laser treatment is the way to GO!?
Anyone else get them?
Those are floaters. They get more common as you get older, it has something to do with old dead cells sloughing off inside the eye.

But CAN these floaters be removed?????
Can I have them zapped away? More carrot juice maybe
Hello Funky girl
My dad was in his eighties when he had his cataracts removed. Sadly he did not last much longer to take advantage of his restored sight.
Yeah, I wish someday they can some out with something to PREVENT all these problems since nobody goes to the doctor. It would help

Cataracts refer to a disease which negatively affects the lens of one’s eyes and manifests as clouding of your vision. It usually has an effect on people who have reached the age of forty as well as the elderly. In case you have this problem, then you will consistently see scattered, partially or fully blocked out light. It’s possible you’ll also experience hazy or blurred vision. ^
