Go Smelling the Trivia!

Trivia is an interest I have, more out of boredom I think, but I thought I would share a few useless facts in the garden… you may be surprised… I was.

  3. I watched a very interesting debate on the role the media play in the demand, production and supply of news.
    One of the debating panel was Sergey Brin. He produced an interesting fact –

    Google has noted over 600 different ways people spell Britney Spears name when they search for information about her on google.

    If I am not wrong, Einstien was a Jew & Darwin a Christian. I have heard that cousin marriages are not allowed in Christianity & I believe Darwin was a religious man. At least his beard gives that impression. I am just curious, is it Christianity that prohibits cousin marriages or has it something to do with culture?

      Its a medical thing I think.. and in law… first cousins are to genetic similar.. and can cause problems in future generations…. so i think….

        But aren’t cousins treated just like your siblings among Christian families? I thought maybe that was a religious thing. Yes you are right, marriages among cousins lead to a number of genetic diseases. Thalassemia has become a major problem here in the UAE & one of the main reasons is marriage among cousins. Now what the government has done is that they have made pre-marital medical check ups mandatory for both the partners before the marriage can be registered.

      UK law does not prohibit the marriage of first cousins. Only half the US states ban the marriage of first cousins.

    Oh, Goodie…TRIVIA! I love the stuff. Only thing is, most of the mindless trivia I’ve accumulated the average person wouldn’t be interested in.
