This Saturday Series 4 of Dr Who starts! Yeah. Only thing is not all Dr Who fans will be able to watch it, our own Aussie Cynic for example. Not for a while anyway. Not in Aussie Land. So as international barriers keep coming down with the internets expansion and sites like Go! Smell the Flowers (in it’s own small way for now!) bringing people together, how long do you think it will be before we have global launches of new TV programmes like Doctor Who?

I love time travellin me!
My David built me a Time Travellin PortaLoo fer me recent birfday he did. He was lookin at getting me one of them Tardisis, but like, wot if youz are caught short like alf way between the pre-flushin lavvie era and the right dead proper olden times wiv no lavvies at all?
See that’s a right dilemma like, it is. An that’s when he ad the brill idea to make our own time travellin machine from out of a portaloo for me see!
It’s ace it is!
So last night right, we was feelin like a bit of ruff and so we sets the contols fer the Stone Age like. Oooh! Them stone age men, they’re like rock ard all over like, you knows wot I means don’ts you ladies!
Anyways, we got our Time Travellin PortaLoo set up at the bottom of the garden and pushes the Go! Button and it starts shakin like see, then starts makin wot seemed like involuntary noises and the lavvie started flushin backwards (wot proves we was time travellin) an then it fell over!
I was right proper perturbed by that see. But like, David reckons its normal wot wiv all that stuff goin thru time an that, it must av dislodged the ambient time co-ordinator an balancin stirrups. He says it’s perfectly normal wiv time travel see, a bit like ow them tiles are supposed to fall off the space shuckle.
Well the TTPL landed on the doors so we couldn’t get out an it was awful dark, must av been really dark cos the Stone Age was a long long time before the Dark Ages, so it must av bin really pitch black outside right. Then we falls asleep we does, tired see.
Next thing we knows, there’s some people outside turnin the TTPL the right way up, an when we opens the door there was Her Madgesty and that film director bloke wot she married. An they was laffin at us right! Laffin!!
“I canst wait to tell me mates, the paps, bout you an your David stuck in the lavvie all night!” she says! (She’s such a gossipy cow like that she is.)
“We aven’t Madonna!” I says back, “we was time travellin an went to the Stone Age right, only we must av accidentally it the Return! Button whilst we was avin a kip, an ere we are see, back ere we are!”
“Don’t be stupid Elt, there’s no such stuff as time travellin you dork!” says that jumped up nuffink ov a film director wot she married.
Well if you asks me he’s the stupid dork, everyone knows that Dr David Tennant bloke (lovely he is) does it all the time!
An he time travels as well!
oh Elton you and David are a clever pair…
And fancy using a pottaLoo how practical….. lol.. he really thinks of everything…
Its a pitty before you left one of those Cave man types didnt put a drawing on the TTPL then you could shut that dork right up..

The delay in the 5 series through next year is because David is playing Hamlet (I think) but he wants to stay as the dr which is all good. he was great as Barty Crouch…. so worth the wait…..

We have secret flowers in the garden!
I haven’t seen the latest incarnation of Dr Who on account of the fact that I realised whilst watching the earlier series of the show, at the age of 5 or 6, that it was utter cr@p, and consequently endeavour to avoid it whenever possible.
On the odd occasions I have tuned in since being a child, without exception, I have been disappointed by weak story lines, sh!te acting and the worst of the worst special effects.
Is the fact that it continues a reflection of the viewing public’s low standard of expectation and compliant acceptance of drivel, which encourages an underfunded BBC to pump out such rubbish with regularity?
That the show sells overseas is a sad indictment of the low standard of television production in those countries who rave about it.
Oh Well Fertile fish….
We cant all have such discerning taste at such a young and tender age…
The fact that the dr is still running and was reborn a few years ago, reflects highly on the British Viewing public… as does the fact that over 10 million brits watch it religiously…
The program has more to do with peoples appetite for the unusual as well as the impossible made possible….than with clever story line, the special effects are not suppose to be fantastic.. although they are good… not everything is about out doing the latest story or the latest effect, some of us just like a good old fashioned story without all the reallife crap a bit of escapisism… A super hero with powers never tought of in Superman….. who hasnt wanted to travel through time.. find the truth…. see a loved one who is gone just once… and thats what it comes down to…. and the fact that he could be anyone makes it even more apealling….
but I guess it is whatever float your boat isnt it….
I think your comment give us less of insight into the BBC prgraming ability and more of some peoples lack of tastebuds …
but thankfully not everyone is the same…. so many people love it… I personal hate Mr Bean… cant stand him… but I take refuge in the fact that Rowan Atkinson hates him too……

Well – fortunately I love Dr Who as well. Have to say though that I think David Tennant is great.
Tomorrow is going to be a good day. We ‘ve placed our bets on the National, then after the kids are in bed we’ll watch first episode of series 4 with a curry.
