GO! Smell the UK Mothers day!

Posted on March 2nd, 2008 by Jim

So happy Mothers day to all you Mothers in the U.K. This U.S clip sums up the pressure it can bring on offsprings to keep Mum / Mom happy:

Thanks to UK Mum Diane in the U.K for sending us flowers this clip. Anyone got anything planned for Mother and do we need to be reminded of these occasions to send family gifts and say thanks?

After all if it wasn’t for Mum none of us would be here, right? Share your first memories of your Mother right here and feel free to include your beloved Mother in Law for those who have them.

Mother in law jokes welcomed right here ;-)

Happy Mothers day to all mums!

I love my mum, first memory, going to nursery and being scared when she left me for the first time. I reckon she was probably more scared, I was a clumsy little mite so she probably expected a broken arm or summut.

Today, I am home with her so I shall be taking her to the pub, then we are cooking a roast together. Which strangely she finds more enjoyable than eating out at overly inflated prices.

    Fine by me.

  2. No we don’t need to be reminded of these occasions.
If i were ever to forget i can rely upon a web based flower company to fill my in-box with a suggestion to send flowers for mothers day, fathers day, waitangi day, valentines day, mother-in-laws getting out of jail day, christmas day, new years day, independance day, hallowen, easter sunday, etc etc

My Mum got a big bunch of flowers today (via my brother who still lives in the next town), and a soppy card I posted earlier in the week which she held up in church service she was leading this morning as an example to all the little boys and girls when she asked the question “had they remembered Mother’s Day?”.

We took Mandy to Hopton Hall (near Carsington Resevoir) to walk around the snowdrops before their season ends. Now we’re cooking a fantastic indian curry and a bottle of bubbly for later.

Hope you all had a great Mother’s Day wherever you are.

Jo, new rule at Flowers, you must comment on at least 2 posts when you stop by :D :P ;)

Lord me! British cuisine is really all about curry huh? You guys even home-cook it now!! Whatever happened to roast beef and Yorkshire pudding ??!

just left the second – sorry Mam! (bows in deep respect at this hideous error).

As for the ROast Beef – the rest of the family are all Vegetarians so I’m out-numbered but healthier for it I think.

I like to think its my own small contribution to Dophins !! (luv tuna/mayo sanwiches on nutty brown bread….)

I am pleased to say that I am just about to tuck in to a roast pork dinner with yorkshire pudding (thats the kind of mum I’ve got, doesn’t care about traditional accompaniments, have I said already how much I love her?)

        I’m also a bit pissed.

        But I do.

  5. Mother’s Day in the UK already? We’re a bit behind you having Mother’s Day in early May. I haven’t got a clue what I’m going to do to celebrate.
