OK let’s join in with the latest rash of Bill Bryson travel posts. Here’s AEP contribution part one including a photo of your’s truly ‘On Tour’ with the boys in Thailand. This was the start of a brilliant two weeks in Jan/Feb
Great food, friendly people, interesting night life, inexpensive hotels, and exceptional rub-downs post golf! We’re already planning another trip.
Is the UAE now the worlds travel hub?

Where abouts in Thailand where you and can the readers guess which one of the 4 in the photo you are?
The UAE THE travel hub? Not yet but with Jebel Ali airport and much more from Emirates & Etihad airlines the East meets West location will take some beating.
A few hours from Maldives, Mumbai, Morroco and Moscow and that’s only one letter of the alphabet. Alos just heard direct flights to Prague – only 5 hours away.
5 hrs to Prague,Jim…June 5th,stag do 3 nights,Go! Book it.
Bo, no can do – Em n I are away end May /early June for her biggie birthday…probsbly Cuba if the Casto scenario pans out…

I?m not so sure about this trip, I question the authenticity of the photo, are we seriously supposed to accept that four guys in Thailand have only two beers on show? One only half consumed, (trying to avoid the half full half empty debate). Me thinks this is a fix, I?d want to see more evidence associated with what four guys on a golf trip (ha ha) would do in Thailand.

One non-drinker due to life threatening incident with many pints of Stella followed by two bottles of Tequila, although we did get him on the beer after a couple of nights
You can’t beat a ‘Jolly boy’s outing’,got my stag do planned for June,3 nights of de-bauchery in Prague.Never been to Thailand but it’s on my list,i must say it looks quite tame,4 blokes sipping halves round a table,nice view..where’s the rest of the photo’s angry,mind you golden rule when away with the lads,cameras get left behind at night!
Championship golf courses tend to frown upon beered up tourists and Hua Hin is not exactly Phuket or Pattaya. It’s the King’s holiday resort and whilst there is night life, bars/bar girls it’s not in your face.
We did partake of a massage or two but when you’re seperated by only a curtain from a twenty stone, sweating box head it concentrates the mind. It was a golf holiday after all

I had to reprimand one at the weekend for trying to grab my lass in a nightclub, we were actually talking to each other sitting at a table at the time.
Having 2 VW plants in the city means there are a lot of them here. So you can imagine a few more box heads started to descend on after I sent him sprawling.I admit I didn’t help the situation by shouting ‘What do you think this table is f***ing Poland’ (I was drunk and angry) . Luckily I am friends with a lot of them and one of the senior managers (also one of my neighbours) stepped in, he’d seen the inscident in full.

Travel hub?
Only for those self obsessed people who live there.
I tried to get a flight through there during my last visit to the UK during Chinese new year (thought I’d surprise all the flowers lot there with a few days guest appearance), damned near impossible to get anything less than 2 or 3 times the price of a direct flight from Beijing to London. I also considered Shanghai but again, you are limited to the Arabian airlines and the prices just didn’t make it viable.
I tend to like direct flights as a rule as airports are overated. As such unless you’re going to Dubai or Abu Dhabi then its moot really.
For Aus and NZ then Singapore or Bangkok are generally a better route from Europe.
Which ones Angry? I’m guessing far right blue shirt with BASF logo (he’s the one with the most forced looking smile but it might be because the geeza opposite him looks like he could be his brother).
You think so? I’m going with the one on the left in the white and blue stripes. He looks like he is ready to give the photographer a piece of his mind over the time he’s taking with that shot, Angry-style ha!

I don’t consider myself as photogenic and this is the best of a bad bunch. In my defense it was after a sweaty round of golf, and a lot of beer the night before – and pre post golf rub down.

Heathrow handles more international travellers than any other airport, which in my book makes it the world’s travel hub.
