Merry Christmas from CC in Southern California!!! Now, I know that wasn’t politically correct and I hope I didn’t offend anyone. But, sometimes especially during Christmas I feel that I need to hide that I am a Christian. For me, Merry Christmas is the proper greeting. It isn’t that I don’t respect or want to hear about other religions, but this is one of the two most important days of the year for a Christian. The second being Easter.
What does this time of year mean to you?

Merry Christmas CC and to all other coffee smellers.
Making merry with family and friends is always a happy time but also helping others who are less fortunate than ourselves.

Merry Christmas to you CC.
To me it means reflection possibly because I have had some of the most beautiful times at Christmas and some of the most heartbreaking.
I am looking forward to spending the time with my family and to shutting down my computer for three days Christmas Eve, Christmas Day & Boxing Day – my present to myself!

Merry Christmas CC
Reflect or look forward? Just looking forward to a slightly less crazy year and catching up with the family in Cambridgeshire a little more in 2010.

I too am looking forward to a less crazy year than 2009. Reflect or look forward? Good question…mine is a bit of both. Merry Christmas Jonathan to you and your family!!

Merry Christmas CC! Can I ask whether you find Christmas shortened to Xmas offensive? Some people do apparently.
For me, this time of year is all about the family and eating shed loads. I’ve deliberately lost a few pounds so I can stock right back up again!
Last day of ahopping for me today and then its food, drink, more drink, more food, kippage and then starting all over again. Have a good one!
Merry Christmas Lib!!! Of, course you can ask a question anytime. Now, whether or not I can answer is another question…sounds like a pun!!
There is a difference between the two words. It comes from the Greek word or symbol for Christ is a version of an “x,” so somewhere they shortened it to be xmas. Both mean, “Christ’s Mass.”
When I am studying my Bible or taking notes, I always use “x” as it is much easier; however, as a Christian I like seeing CHRISTmas. Plus, most don’t know the distinction. I am not offended except it often goes with the commercialism of this time of year.
